Detectives seek leads after baby’s body is found on conveyor belt
Homicide detectives Thursday evening were looking for the mother of an apparently newborn baby girl whose body was found wrapped in a blanket on a conveyor belt at a Victorville recycling center.
A worker discovered the infant’s body around 11:30 a.m. at the plant in the 17000 block of Abbey Lane, according to the San Bernardino County Sheriff’s Department.
“The female victim appears to be a newborn,” department officials said in a statement.
Deputies and medical responders determined at the scene that the infant was dead. An autopsy is being conducted to determine the cause of death.
Anyone with information about the mother is asked to call Det. Bryan Zierdt at (909) 387-3589 or Sheriff’s Department dispatch at (760) 956-5001.
