A woman was struck and killed by a car outside an Irvine high school Wednesday morning. After the impact, the car ended up on school property.
No students were involved in the incident, which occurred about 11 a.m. near Arnold O. Beckman High School, said Farrah Emami, spokeswoman for the Irvine Police Department.
Police believe the woman, who was not identified, was on the sidewalk at the intersection of Bryan Avenue and Rubicon when she was hit, Emami said. She was pronounced dead at the scene.
The male driver of the car may have been ejected. Emami said he was outside the vehicle when police arrived at the scene. The driver suffered critical injuries and was transported to a local hospital.
The car, a silver sedan, came to rest on a hill next to the school’s football field.
