One of 5 injured when car plows into Gardena doughnut shop dies

A woman has died of her injuries sustained when a car slammed into a doughnut shop in Gardena Tuesday night. She was among five people injured in the crash.

The 30-year-old Huntington Park woman, whose name hasn’t been released, died at 7:52 p.m., said Gardena Sgt. Nick Pepper.

The other four victims suffered minor to moderate to injuries, L.A. County Fire dispatcher Ed Pickett said.

The incident happened about 7:20 p.m. near Western and Marine avenues, Pickett said.

The business is the Donut King II, according to aerial news footage.

Two people were trapped for some time before they were extracted by emergency personnel, Pickett said.

It was not immediately clear why the car went into the shop. Police are still investigating the crash.
