A gang rivalry turned violent in Thousand Oaks when a 22-year-old man was seriously injured in a stabbing attack, authorities said Wednesday.
Jose Barragan was stabbed multiple times in his neck and torso and collapsed in the 800 block of Warwick Avenue, where bystanders came to his aid, according to the Ventura County Sheriff’s Department.
The department said Barragan and his four attackers are documented members of a Thousand Oaks street gang. “The investigation revealed this was a gang-related attack,” authorities said.
Authorities said four suspects have been arrested on suspicion of attempted murder and other crimes.
The suspects were identified by authorities as Brandon Navarro, 18, of Glendale; Jonathan Alinei, 20, of Simi Valley; Hector Martinez, 29, of Newbury Park; and Briana Ayala, 20. She was described by authorities as a transient.
