4 people killed in small plane crash at Northern California airport

Reporting from Columbia, Calif. — Authorities said a small private plane crashed at the airport in the Northern California town of Columbia, killing all four people on board.
The Tuolumne County Sheriff’s Department said the plane crashed Wednesday as it tried to land on the runway but veered to the left.
It said the plane was fully engulfed in flames when emergency crews arrived.
The department said the aircraft was coming from the north but didn’t say where exactly.
The Sheriff’s Department said investigators with the National Transportation Safety Board would arrive Thursday.
The crash also caused a small vegetation fire that was quickly extinguished.
No other information was immediately released.
