Man shot by L.A. County sheriff’s deputy in Long Beach

A man was shot by a Los Angeles County sheriff’s deputy in Long Beach on Tuesday.

Authorities were still trying to sort out what led to the shooting in the 200 block of East Sunset Street, which sent a man to the hospital with unspecified injuries.

The shooting occurred at 10:14 a.m. near Pine Avenue. The deputy wasn’t injured in the incident, but the suspect, who was not immediately identified, was hit, Sheriff’s Sgt. Diane Hecht said.

A handgun was recovered at the scene, and homicide detectives were en route to the scene to investigate, according to the Sheriff’s Department.
