Man killed by train in northern San Diego County
A 49-year-old man was hit and killed Sunday by an Amtrak train near Del Mar, the San Diego County Sheriff’s Department said.
The man was walking in the middle of the tracks shortly before noon between Del Mar and San Diego.
The train engineer used the horn to warn the man but was unable to stop quickly enough, the Sheriff’s Department said. The train was delayed for 90 minutes as investigators gathered evidence.
