4-year-old boy who wandered away from home found dead in pool
A 4-year-old boy who wandered away from his family’s Castaic home Friday afternoon died after being found in a nearby swimming pool, sheriff’s officials said.
Travis Stratton walked away from the home in the 32500 block of Old Road, near Lake Hughes Road, about 1 p.m., according to tweets from the Los Angeles County sheriff’s Santa Clarita Valley station.
Deputies conducted a search that ended a few hours later when the boy was found in the pool. Travis was pronounced dead at a hospital, the station said.
Homicide detectives were en route to the scene “to conduct a thorough investigation of this incident,” the station said.
Calls to the sheriff’s station for additional details were not immediately returned.
