Officials search for man off Oceanside after his dog found on beach
The Coast Guard searched Monday night for a boater reported missing off Oceanside after his dog was found on the beach.
Along with the Oceanside Harbor Police, a Coast Guard helicopter and cutter searched for the man and his 21-foot fishing boat, the Lucky Dog, beginning around 8 p.m., officials said.
The Coast Guard did not release the man’s name.
He was reported missing around 5:30 p.m. by his wife, officials said. She had been contacted by a beachgoer who found the couple’s dog on the beach north of Oceanside pier. The couple’s phone number was on the dog’s collar.
