‘Reverse summer’ temperatures expected to heat up this week
Cooler temperatures on Monday and Tuesday will begin rising slightly Wednesday, bringing weather conditions to the Los Angeles area that are more typical of mid-August.
Daytime temperatures in the valleys, currently in the mid- to high-80s, are expected to rise to the low- to mid-90s this week. Morning clouds should help keep temperatures at the beach stay in the low- to mid-70s, said National Weather Service meteorologist Mike Wofford.
While the start of the summer saw uncharacteristic heat, recent weeks have been cooler than normal, making for “sort of a reverse summer” so far, Wofford said.
The ocean also feels colder now than at the beginning of the summer, he added.
Temperatures are expected to remain normal through early next week, Wofford said. No strong winds or afternoon thunderstorms are expected.
