Police report few problems at U.S.-Mexico soccer match that drew nearly 94,000
Pasadena police reported fewer than three dozen arrests at Saturday’s U.S.-Mexico soccer game despite the throngs of fans who attended the nail-biting matchup at the Rose Bowl.
About 34 people were arrested for mostly minor offenses at the CONCACAF Cup game. Police said the number was relatively minor given the 93,723 people in attendance.
Nearly half of the arrests were on suspicion of public intoxication. The others were on suspicion of illegal vending, scalping tickets, drug offenses, delaying a police investigation, vehicle theft and an outstanding warrant.
One person was arrested on suspicion of battery. Another was arrested on suspicion of assault.
Mexico beat the U.S. 3-2 with two minutes left in extra time, earning a place in the 2017 Confederations Cup.
