The death of a mother and daughter in an Orange County apartment does not appear to be criminal in nature, an Orange County Sheriff’s Department spokesman said Friday.

The bodies of Beverly Skinn, 80, and her daughter Monnie Skinn, 43, were found in their Stanton apartment Tuesday afternoon by sheriff’s deputies doing a welfare check.

Lt. Jeff Hallock they stopped by the apartment because Monnie Skinn had missed a few days of work.

There were no visible signs of trauma and a cause of death is pending a toxicology report, Hallock said.

It is not clear how long they had been dead prior to their discovery.

Although authorities do not believe a crime occurred, they are continuing to investigate.
