Bryan Stow sent home after insurance company stops coverage
San Francisco Giants fan Bryan Stow, who suffered brain damage when he was assaulted at Dodger Stadium two years ago, was recently sent home from a Bakersfield rehabilitation center because his insurance company stopped covering his 24-hour care, his family said this week on its website.
Stow’s insurance company will no longer pay for him to stay at the Centre for Neuro Skills in Bakersfield, so the family decided to bring him home to the Santa Cruz area and find ways to help him continue to progress.
Stow, 44, a former paramedic who now requires 24-hour care, “could have benefited greatly by staying at CNS longer,” the family said on its website.
Stow was severely beaten after a game between the Giants and the Dodgers on opening day in 2011.
The beating sparked outrage and brought security changes to Dodger Stadium and ballparks around the country.
Two men were later arrested and charged in connection with the attack. They are awaiting trial.
