Reader Photo: L.A. observations

Tourist spots, in Los Angeles and everywhere else, are often neglected by those who live in the area and are often complained about in diatribes on crowds and parking. Oftentimes, a fresh perspective is all that’s needed to rediscover an old place that maybe you haven’t visited in a while.

The Griffith Observatory is one such place, and despite our odes to the planetarium in film and TV, it’s almost certain there are some locals who haven’t been in years. The charm of this photo lies in a few certain places -- the view, that classic Griffith Observatory architecture, the activity of all the groups of visitors -- and it can get your feet going in a familiar (but long unseen) direction.

Photographer Daniel Brown took this photo as part of a timelapse photo project. Brown takes timelapses of cities he travels to, with the latest being Los Angeles.
