A 10-year-old girl narrowly escaped being abducted in a south Philadelphia neighborhood on Tuesday, and the attempt was captured on video.

On Thursday morning, a “person of interest” was picked up and questioned in the incident, the Philadelphia police public affairs office confirmed with the Los Angeles Times.

The video, which has gone viral online, shows the girl strolling with her 2-year-old brother down a south Philadelphia sidewalk Tuesday afternoon. A man makes a grab for her from behind, appears to tussle with the girl, then drops her and runs.

According to police, the kids were walking home from a nearby store when a man in an older white four-door car started tailing them. He parked and followed them up the street.

The man came up behind the girl, put his hand over her mouth and tried to carry her off. After dropping the girl, he fled in his car.

Philadelphia Mayor Michael Nutter is offering a $10,000 award for information leading to the arrest and conviction of the man.

As of Thursday morning, according to the public affairs office, only one individual had been brought in for questioning. No formal charges had been filed, and the investigation was continuing.
