Vegas suspect shown at club in gun shirt on night of Strip mayhem
A party photographer apparently snapped some evidence in Las Vegas’ recent homicide case -- a photo of the lead suspect near the scene of the crime wearing a T-shirt that featured a gun.
A shooting on the Las Vegas Strip early Thursday morning that resulted in a traffic collision left three dead, triggering a manhunt for the shooting suspect, 26-year-old Ammar Harris, also known as Ammar Asim Faruq Harris.
The shooting was thought to have begun after an argument in front of the Aria hotel valet stand sometime after 4 a.m. Valerie Darling, who works for a limousine company that often posts cars at the Aria, previously told the Los Angeles Times that the men involved had been inside the Aria’s nightclub, called Haze.
The club was hosting rapper French Montana that night, according to Haze’s website, and a photo temporarily published online by SPYONvegas.com, a party pics website, appears to put Harris at the club sometime before the shooting.
KSNV-TV republished a photo that appears to show Harris in a black T-shirt emblazoned with an image of a man holding a gun; the tattoos on the man’s neck appear to match those in a mug shot of Harris provided by the Las Vegas Metropolitan Police Department.
The man is wearing a hat and red jeans and is posing with another unidentified man; the two are making gestures with their hands.
SPYONvegas.com has since removed the Haze photos that it had originally posted online, according to a Google cache.
The website did not respond to a request for comment on Sunday; the photographer, Teddy Fujimoto, also could not be reached.
The Las Vegas Metropolitan Police Department did not respond to messages Sunday seeking an update on the search for Harris.
Harris has previously been arrested in Las Vegas on suspicion of kidnapping, sexual assault, being an ex-felon in possession of a gun and robbery, police said.
Victim Kenneth Cherry, Jr. -- a rapper known as Kenny Clutch who was thought to be the intended target of the shooting -- had previously made a music video featuring a Maserati driving past hotels on the Las Vegas Strip.
