1 injured in fire on 50th floor of Chicago’s Hancock building
A fire on the 50th floor of the John Hancock Center in Chicago injured at least one person on Nov. 21, 2015.
One person was injured in a fire that broke out Saturday afternoon on the 50th floor of the John Hancock Center, officials said.
Police closed traffic on North Michigan Avenue due to the fire, which started on a residential floor.
At about 4 p.m. local time, the fire department said the fire had been extinguished.
Earlier Saturday, flames could be seen shooting out of a window on the 50th floor.
The injured person was taken to Northwestern Memorial Hospital.
Police told the Associated Press they received calls reporting the fire from people inside the 100-story building, the seventh-tallest in the U.S., which has offices and residential units, along with a rooftop observation deck popular with tourists.
