The Santa Fe High School shooting in Texas on Friday stirred strong reactions from Marjory Stoneman Douglas students and Parkland, Fla., families.

Emotions ranged from anger and outrage to sorrow among gun control and school safety advocates as they processed the news that another shooting struck a high school in the United States.

“Santa Fe High, you didn’t deserve this,” wrote Stoneman Douglas student Emma Gonzalez, one of the more vocal survivors of the Feb. 14 Parkland shooting and one of the organizers of the March For Our Lives rally in Washington, D.C., in March. “You deserve peace all your lives, not just after a tombstone saying that is put over you.

“My heart is so heavy for the students of Santa Fe High School,” wrote fellow Parkland student Jaclyn Corin. “It’s an all too familiar feeling no one should have to experience. I am so sorry this epidemic touched your town - Parkland will stand with you now and forever.

“I’m so sorry this is happening, and I’m so sorry that it continues to happen,’’ shared fellow Stoneman Douglas student Sarah Chadwick.
