Re “Nuclear force officers suspected of cheating,” Jan. 16

There are some jobs in which individuals need to “know it cold.” Airline pilot and neurosurgeon are two pretty good examples. You can’t take a “time out” to look up what should have been internalized by long hours of study and practice.

That the military personnel in charge of our nuclear missiles don’t feel their positions fall into this category is worrisome.

Imagine the chaos if the North Koreans decided to launch a nuke at Hawaii. Would precious seconds be wasted while someone texted a buddy for the procedures?

If these officers can’t handle the stress and pressure of a test, how would they handle an actual attack?
