Blue Man Group

Blue Man Group — the wildly popular antic romp that’s been playing at the Venetian Hotel-Resort-Casino since before the beginning of time — what’s it all about?

Three bald and blue brothers wander about the stage in wide-eyed wonderment. None utters a word but the trio engages in all sorts of interesting activities, like beating drumsticks on PVC pipes, splattering paint, eating Twinkies and flinging stuff into the audience.

Be warned. Some of the weirdness may find its way onto your seat. But no matter. You’ll live to tell the tale.

“At the end of the day, the show’s message is to follow your bliss,” said longtime Las Vegas Blue Man Scott Kinworthy. “We really want the audience to go on a journey with us, and if they can experience, at the very least, a little bliss with us, then maybe that will carry them through the rest of their day.”

Blue Man Group’s Las Vegas home is a custom-built 1,760-seat theater at the Venetian. As anyone who’s seen the show will tell you, the wettest seats in the house are those in the first few rows. If you happen to be seated in one of them, you’ll arrive to find a plastic pancho draped over the backrest. Pull it on and settle in for a night of fun.

But back to the question of what it’s about: Believe it or not, there’s meaning behind the madness. “The three of us together are able to solve problems, and that’s what creates the story, the comedy and the magic,” Kinworthy said.
