“Jersey Boys” — the grittily honest story of Frankie Valli and the Four Seasons — is preparing to celebrate three years on the Strip.

The musical chronicles the lives of four guys from the wrong side of the tracks who overcame incredible odds to become one of the best-selling musical groups of all time.

Frankie Valli and The Four Seasons was an unstoppable hit machine during the 1960s and ’70s, with chart toppers like “Sherry,” “Big Girls Don’t Cry,” “Let’s Hang On,” “Walk Like a Man,” “Rag Doll” and “Who Loves You.”

The quartet sold 175 million records — all before they were 30 — but things eventually unraveled and the group broke up in the 1970s.

The “musical pulls no punches and really tells it like it is,” said Deven May, who plays Four Seasons founder and guitarist Tommy DeVito.

Travis Cloer and Rick Faugno share the role of bandleader Frankie Valli, while Santa Monica’s Jeff Leibow plays bassist Nick Massi and Peter Saide portrays songwriter Bob Gaudio. While Valli is the best known among the quartet, it was Gaudio who penned most of the group’s hits.

The actors — talented singers each one — perform all of the hits during the two-act production.
The Palazzo’s “Jersey Boys” is a commercial and critical hit, consistently playing to packed houses and earning raves from critics. The staff of the Las Vegas Review-Journal named it the best show in Las Vegas in the newspaper’s 28th annual “Best of Las Vegas” issue.
