Bus and trolley service, trash collection schedules change for holidays

Schedules for residential trash collection, bus and trolley service in Laguna Beach will be impacted with Christmas and New Year’s Day over the next two weeks.

Trolleys and mainline buses will not run on Christmas and New Year’s Day. There will be no trash service on either holiday.

Trash collection will resume Saturday and Jan. 2. Residents whose regular collection days are Monday, Tuesday, Wednesday or Thursday will not be affected.

Waste Management will collect and recycle Christmas trees on residents’ regular trash pickup days from SaturdayDec. 26 through Jan. 16.

Trees must be cut to lengths less than 4 feet, and decorations, tinsel, metal ornaments, and metal stands must be removed.

Flocked trees will be collected, but can not be made into compost due to their chemical content. After Jan. 16, non-flocked trees can also be recycled by cutting them up and placing them in the green waste carts.

Street sweeping will not occur on Christmas and New Year’s Day. Parking restrictions for street sweeping will not be enforced on those days.

City Hall will be closed Christmas and New Year’s, but the police and fire departments will operate on regular schedules.
