Parking permits will be available for holidays in certain areas of Fountain Valley

Fountain Valley neighborhoods surrounding Mile Square Regional Park and Santa Ana’s Centennial Regional Park will soon be able to purchase preferential parking permits for use during six major holidays.

The Fountain Valley City Council on Tuesday unanimously approved a resolution to regulate residential parking in an effort to ease traffic and parking problems on Easter, Cinco de Mayo, Mother’s Day, Memorial Day, Independence Day and Labor Day.

Notification letters will be distributed by Police Explorers to affected residents a week before the first holiday. Public Works staff will place barricades by affected areas.

Residents who use driveways or garages aren’t required to purchase permits. The resolution is aimed specifically at residents who primarily use street parking.

Decals will cost $3. Once purchased, a decal can be used for any of the listed holidays and will not expire.

Additional parking permits and guest passes will be available at the Fountain Valley Police Department.
