The Huntington Beach City Council discussed the possible price and terms of payment for the purchase of the closed Mariners Point fuel dock during a special closed session Monday evening.

No action was taken during the meeting, according to a city staff report Tuesday. City officials would not comment about it for the record.

According to the meeting agenda, council members were to consult with City Manager Fred Wilson about the future of the fuel dock at 15922 Pacific Coast Hwy., behind the Simple Green building.

In September, the council directed Wilson to work to find parties willing to buy and operate Mariners Point and to look into the possibility of the city or Orange County being the buyer.

The city has been in talks since August with the dock’s owners and operators, City Center Properties and Nahas Enterprises, in an attempt to preserve Huntington Harbour’s only boat fueling dock. Negotiations were stagnant over the summer and the owners closed the dock Oct. 1.

Since then, local boaters have had to buy fuel from the Alamitos Bay Marine Fuel Dock in Long Beach or at stations in Newport Harbor.

Mariners Point provided fuel for about 6,000 boat owners in Huntington Harbour.
