After learning the results of the MRI examination he underwent Monday, third baseman Justin Turner said he expected to be playing again in a “couple of days.”

“It was pretty much the best case we could have had,” Turner said.

The examination showed Turner has tendinitis and a bone bruise in his left knee.

Soreness in the knee forced Turner to make an early departure from the Dodgers’ 3-2 loss to the Pittsburgh Pirates on Saturday night.

“Hopefully, the tendinitis we can get under control,” Turner said.

Turner said the bone bruise was the result of a foul ball he hit off his knee earlier this season.

“The bone bruise might be there for a while, but that’s manageable,” he said. “I’ve been playing with that all year.”

With Turner unavailable, the Dodgers started Chase Utley at third base on Monday night. The game was the 36-year-old Utley’s first at the position.
