Yasiel Puig was held out of the Dodgers’ lineup for the second consecutive day, but he made an appearance as a pinch-hitter in the fifth inning of Sunday’s game against the Colorado Rockies.

Puig, who received a rousing ovation when he appeared in the on-deck circle to hit for starting pitcher Ricky Nolasco, singled to left and eventually scored on Adrian Gonzalez’s RBI single that cut the Rockies’ lead to 3-1 in the teams’ final game before the All-Star break.

Nursing a sore left hip, Puig remained in the game after pinch-hitting, going into right field, with Skip Schumaker shifting from right to second base and Nick Punto exiting.

Michael Cuddyer has driven in all three Colorado runs, with an RBI single in the first and a two-run homer in the fifth, off of Nolasco, who made his second start for the Dodgers.
