Cost of going to a game jumps to see Angels, falls for Dodgers

For a family of four, an Angels game has become a much more expensive day out.

The average family cost jumped 34.9% this season -- the greatest increase of any team in the major leagues -- according to the annual Fan Cost Index, released Monday by Chicago-based Team Marketing Report.

The FCI is $196.16 for the Angels and $204.95 for the Dodgers. The FCI includes four average-price tickets, parking, two programs, two caps, two sodas, two beers and four hot dogs.

The Dodgers’ cost dropped 3.9% from the start of last season, primarily because Guggenheim Baseball cut the parking price from $15 to $10 upon taking ownership of the club last May.

The cost to see the Dodgers and Angels is less than the major league average of $210.46.

The Angels’ average ticket price jumped from $19.71 to $27.54, according to the TMR data, which does not include luxury seats. The Angels ranked 26th in average ticket price last season but rank 12th this season, according to TMR.

The Angels have adopted a dynamic pricing system this season, in which ticket prices could rise or fall daily based on demand. Tickets for the second home game of the season -- April 9 against the Oakland Athletics -- are available on the Angels website for as little as $4.
