Update: Ducks goalie John Gibson, who suffered an upper-body injury at the end of the first period Thursday against San Jose, showed “vast improvement” Friday, according to coach Randy Carlyle. There was no update on his status. The Ducks recalled goalie Kevin Boyle from the San Diego Gulls. Anaheim also acquired defenseman Trevor Murphy from Arizona in exchange for left wing Giovanni Fiore.
