Boys’ basketball: Lonzo Ball played more than a month with dislocated middle finger
Lonzo Ball of Chino Hills has been playing with a dislocated middle finger on his right hand since he injured it in a game against Damien, Coach Steve Baik said Monday.
It’s just another indication of the impact Ball made this season for 35-0 Chino Hills.
Baik said Ball finished the Damien game on Feb. 9 shooting a free throw with his left hand and coaches were concerned how the injury would affect his shooting.
“We thought this could be the end of the run,” he said. “He couldn’t catch with the right hand and was trying to modify his shot. He finished the end of league with just his left hand.”
Ball was able to rest the hand in recent weeks and it got better.
“It just shows his versatility,” Baik said. “He doesn’t have to score.”
Ball is playing in Wednesday’s McDonald’s All-America game in Chicago.
