Sheldon McClellan scored 20 points and No. 12 Miami fought off a second-half rally from Florida State to win, 67-65, on Sunday night at Tallahassee, Fla.

The Hurricanes led by four with less than a minute remaining when Dwayne Bacon’s three-pointer brought the Seminoles to within 66-65. After Davon Reed missed a three, Florida State had a chance to go ahead but Devon Bookert was short on a three-point attempt from the corner.

Ja’Quan Newton hit one of two free throws for Miami, leaving Florida State one last chance, but Malik Beasley missed a 30-footer that would have won it.

Reed had 14 points and Angel Rodriguez scored 11 for the Hurricanes (20-4, 9-3 in the Atlantic Coast Conference), who secured their fourth 20-win season in Jim Larranaga’s five years as coach. Bookert led Florida State (16-9, 6-7) with 14 points, and Xavier Rathan-Mayes had 12.

at No. 4 Iowa 75, Minnesota 71: The Hawkeyes (20-5, 11-2) regained sole possession of first place in the Big Ten Conference as Peter Jok scored 27 points and Jarrod Uthoff had 24 points, 15 rebounds and six blocked shots.

Nate Mason had 14 points to lead Minnesota (6-19, 0-13), which has lost 14 straight games. The Gophers cut Iowa’s lead to 66-64 on two free throws by Joey King with 2 minutes 58 seconds remaining, but the Gophers went two for eight from the field in the final two minutes.

at No. 8 Michigan State 88, Indiana 69: Denzel Valentine had 30 points and 13 assists, and Matt Costello scored a career-high 22 points and grabbed 11 rebounds for the Spartans (21-5, 8-5 in the Big Ten Conference). Michigan State closed the first half with a 9-0 run to take a one-point lead and had a 24-3 run to go ahead by 17 midway through the second half.

The Hoosiers (20-6, 10-3) fell out of a tie for first place. Indiana’s Yogi Ferrell was limited to nine points, eight below his scoring average. The Spartans bounced back from a one-point loss in overtime at No. 18 Purdue.

At No. 9 North Carolina 85, Pittsburgh 64: Brice Johnson scored 19 points to lead a dominating offensive performance by the Tar Heels (21-4, 10-2), who shot 59% percent to stay atop the ACC.

UNC had plenty of balance, shared the ball and got out in transition in arguably its best performance in weeks, using a 13-0 second-half burst to blow the game open.

Michael Young and James Robinson each scored 15 points to lead Pitt (17-7, 6-6). But the Panthers shot 37% percent and committed 19 turnovers, and a strong effort on the glass did little to offset their troubles.
