Update: The U.S. squad that was blitzed by Spain wasn’t at full strength, but the Americans expect to have Landon Donovan and Carlos Bocanegra back Tuesday. The U.S. has never lost in Gold Cup group play, winning all 10 of its openers by a combined 25-5 with six shutouts. Canada, the only nation other than Mexico and the U.S. to win a Gold Cup title, has a roster heavy with European and MLS experience including midfielders Dwayne De Rosario (New York Red Bulls), Atiba Hutchinson (PSV Eindhoven) and Will Johnson (Real Salt Lake) and forward Simeon Jackson (Norwich).
