Up next for Chivas USA: Saturday at Real Salt Lake
When: 1 PDT.
Where: Rio Tinto Stadium, Sandy, Utah.
On the air: TV: TeleFutura; Radio: 690.
Records: Chivas USA 2-2-3; Real 4-1-0.
Record vs. Real (2010): 0-1-1.
Update: Unbeaten in its last five games, Chivas USA faces a Real Salt Lake team coming off consecutive losses, to Monterrey of Mexico in the CONCACAF Champions League final and to the Portland Timbers in MLS play. It will be the first game for Chivas Coach Robin Fraser and assistant Greg Vanney against the club with which they were assistant coaches and won the 2009 MLS title. Fraser discounted Real’s recent setbacks. “They’re still good. How do we match up? It’ll be an extremely challenging match for us because they are extremely technical, extremely composed and have a ton of experience on their side,” he said. “Most of the key components of that team have played together for about three years now, and we’re going on three months. We feel like we’re starting to play well, but to go into Rio Tinto and play against Real Salt Lake after it has lost two games in a row, I think that’s about as tall a challenge as we’re going to find all season.”
