Up next for Kings: Thursday vs. Edmonton
VS. EDMONTON
When: 7:30.
Where: Staples Center.
On the air: TV: FS West; Radio: 1150.
Records: Kings 6-3-2, Oilers 7-2-2.
Update: After sitting out two games because of an undisclosed injury, forward Simon Gagne will return to the lineup, Kings Coach Terry Murray said. He practiced without any issues the last two days. Goalie Jonathan Quick will start against the Oilers. Edmonton defenseman Andy Sutton is out, serving a five-game suspension. Kings defenseman Drew Doughty was talking about former teammate Ryan Smyth, a wise elder among the youthful Oilers. “I think he’s probably one of the only veterans on the whole team.” Smyth, who is off to an excellent start with 10 points in 11 games, requested a trade in the summer, surprising the Kings because the issue did not come up in exit meetings. Doughty fully expects Smyth to try his patented wraparound move. “I don’t know how he does it. We always talk about this,” Doughty said. “Smitty is just slippery.”
