Up next for the Galaxy: Saturday at Kansas City

Share

When: 1 p.m. PDT.

Where: Livestrong Sporting Park, Kansas City, Kan.

On the air: TV: ESPN, ESPN Deportes; Radio: 1150, 1330.

Records: Galaxy 1-2, Sporting Kansas City 4-0.

Record vs. Sporting Kansas City (2011): 1-0-1.

Update: This will be a tough test for the defending MLS champions, who have been listless through their 1-2 start and are now without playmaking midfielder David Beckham, who did not make the trip and is reportedly dealing with back spasms. Last week Beckham was held out of the second half of a rainy loss to New England with some reports that the benching came after Beckham engaged in a loud shouting match with two teammates. Galaxy captain Landon Donovan traveled to Kansas City but remains far less than 100% after missing the New England loss with a tight quadriceps. “You never know how injuries go. It’s literally day to day,” said Donovan, whose playing could be a game-time decision. Even healthy the Galaxy would have trouble with Sporting, which is not only the league’s only unbeaten, untied team but is third in MLS in scoring with seven goals. And with just one score conceded, it leads the league with a goal differential of six.
