Update: Since meeting in last season’s MLS Cup both teams have fallen on hard times, combining for six wins in 22 games. The listless Galaxy have fallen all the way to the Western Conference basement after going winless in six consecutive games, the last a particularly bitter stoppage-time loss to San Jose in which the Galaxy conceded three goals in the final 18 minutes. This will be the Galaxy’s second match without Landon Donovan and Robbie Keane, who combined on the goal that beat Houston in November’s title game. Both players will be gone on international duty at least three weeks, as will Houston defender Geoff Cameron. But the Galaxy will also be without forward Hector Jimenez, who scored a goal in his season debut Wednesday before being red-carded for a dangerous tackle. MLS added a one-game suspension to that penalty, meaning Jimenez won’t be eligible to play again until June 17.The Galaxy will be getting its first look at BBVA Compass Stadium, Houston’s $95-million soccer-specific stadium that opened two weeks ago.
