Foxsports.com writer Jason Whitlock started it by poking fun at Shaquille O’Neal in a tweet Tuesday night during TNT’s “Inside the NBA,” comparing the NBA star turned analyst’s physique to that of his cohost, Charles Barkley.
“Right now, Chuck would win Shirt-Off II... Shaq is opening the season out of shape, as usual,” Whitlock wrote.
It was a pretty clever observation. But is it really a good idea to take on someone who has a forum on national TV? Especially when there are pictures of you like the one in the video above.
Needless to say, there were a lot of on-air laughs at Whitlock’s expense. In the postgame show, O’Neal even went so far as to challenge the outspoken writer to meet him in the ring.
“Jason Whitlock, I tell you what: You can come down here and box me any time you want,” O’Neal said.
The former Lakers star added: “Jason Whitlock, I’ll use one hand, you use two, I’ll get on my knees! Any time, any place. You don’t know who you’re talking to, boy!”
It was all in good fun, so let’s join in. Who do you think would win such a bout? Vote in the poll, then leave a comment explaining why you voted the way you did.
