AT THE PLATE: A.J. Ellis was two for three and raised his spring average to .393. Alex Castellanos hit his fourth home run of the exhibition season. Matt Kemp, who is recovering from shoulder surgery, is starting to look like his old self. He tripled to right in the fifth inning.
ON THE MOUND: Stephen Fife, whom Manager Don Mattingly has described as the most-improved player in camp, made another solid start. Fife held the Cubs to three runs (two earned) and seven hits in six innings. He lowered his earned-run average to 3.45.
EXTRA BASES: The Dodgers and Cubs played in Tucson to raise money for a foundation named in honor of Christina-Taylor Green, the 9-year-old daughter of a Dodgers scout who was killed in the 2011 shootings that wounded then-Congresswoman Gabrielle Giffords.
