NBA names Kobe Bryant ‘Western Conference Player of the Week’

Kobe Bryant was named Western Conference Player of the Week by the NBA for games played from March 4 through March 10.

The Lakers won three of four including a pair of incredible comeback victories over the New Orleans Hornets and Toronto Raptors.

Bryant averaged 33 points, 8.8 assists and 5.8 rebounds. The Lake scored 41 and 42 points on consecutive nights against Toronto and New Orleans while dishing 12 assists in both.

His game-winning shots against the Raptors, including a barrage of three-pointers and a late dunk, helped the Lakers climb into the eighth place in the conference.

The NBA also named Dwyane Wade of the Miami Heat the Eastern Conference Player of the Week.

Other nominees in the West included Ty Lawson of the Denver Nuggets, Kevin Durant of the Oklahoma City Thunder, Damian Lillard of the Portland Trail Blazers and both Mike Conley and Marc Gasol of the Memphis Grizzlies.

Bryant received the same honor two weeks ago while averaging 31.3 points, 6 assists and 7.7 rebounds.
