Forward Candace Parker, shown during a game Aug. 6 against the Shock, led the Sparks to a win Sunday at Staples Center.
Candace Parker scored 21 points and had a career-high 10 assists to lead the Los Angeles Sparks past the Chicago Sky, 76-64, on Sunday at Staples Center.
Kristi Toliver added 16 points, Nneka Ogwumike 15 and Jantel Lavender 10 for the Sparks (8-16), who bounced back from a discouraging defeat against lowly Seattle in a game they had led by 16. Parker finished two rebounds short of a triple-double.
The Sparks led 38-35 at halftime, then shot 9 of 12 from the floor in the third quarter to go ahead 61-47. The Sky, the league’s highest-scoring team, made just 4 of 16 in the period. The lead reached 21 points in the fourth quarter.
League scoring leader Elena Delle Donne had 23 points for Chicago (15-11), but on only seven-of-19 shooting. Cappie Pondexter added 11 points.
The Sparks also won at Chicago, 88-77, on July 31 to sweep the season series.
