After Indians’ World Series collapse, LeBron James might not find blowing a 3-1 series lead so funny anymore

LeBron James and company have been thoroughly enjoying their NBA championship and the fact that they won it back in June after falling behind the Golden State Warriors in the finals, three games to one.

But people in Cleveland might not think blowing a 3-1 series lead is so funny anymore, now that their beloved Indians did it against the Chicago Cubs in the World Series, ultimately losing Game 7 in 10 innings, 8-7.

The Indians almost pulled it out in the final game to bring Cleveland its second professional sports championship in a matter of months after going more than half a century without one. After Cleveland trailed by as much as 5-1, Rajai Davis hit a two-run home run in the eighth inning to pull the Indians even, 6-6.

Had the Indians gone on to win, that video of James probably would have been one of the lasting images of the series. But they didn’t, so instead, James posted a different video on Uninterrupted, in which he congratulated both teams and offered plenty of encouragement to his hometown Indians.

“The whole Cavs organization, all the fans, the whole city of Cleveland, we’re all proud of you guys,” James said. “You guys got nothing to hang your heads low about. Use this as inspiration and get ready for next year.”

James knows what he’s talking about. He and the Cavaliers made it to the NBA Finals twice before, in 2007 and 2015, before finally securing the championship this year.
