Three Miami Dolphins who’d heard of Peyton McCaughey’s situation spent part of Sunday at the hospital with the boy.

McCaughey is the Palm Beach County boy who became mysteriously ill after returning to the home his parent had tented and fumigated by a pest control company. He was originally admitted to Miami Children’s Hosptial, where he spent his 10th birthday on Thursday.

On Sunday, having learned of the story, running back Lamar Miller, defensive end Olivier Vernon and wide receiver Jarvis Landry visited McCaughey at Joe DiMaggio Children’s Hospital, where McCaughey had been transferred.

The players brought gifts including a football which they signed, a Dolphins Academy jersey, a T-shirt, Dolphins headphones, a teddy bear, and other items. McCaughey, in a wheelchair and suffering some sort of neurologic problems, was unable to communicate very much with the players but showed signs of enjoying the visit.

The players also took photos and signed autographs for a few of the children and families in adjoining hospital rooms while there. One of McCaughey’s friends was visiting said he was from NY. Landry then called Odell Beckham Jr via FaceTime to say hello to the kids.

And, yes, Sunday was a day off for Dolphins players.

It was a productive day nonetheless.
