Strong safety Kam Chancellor was absent from practice again on Wednesday and coach Pete Carroll says Chancellor will not play Sunday against the St. Louis Rams.

“He’s not here right and so he’s not playing,” Carroll said. “Today is Wednesday.”

Carroll said he was “disappointed” Chancellor is still holding out and that “everybody should be.”

“I am disappointed in this very much so,” Carroll said. “I think everybody should be because he’s been a great part of our team. It’s unfortunate that it’s come to this and he’s not here.”

Carroll said he could not say what Chancellor being gone this week means for the rest of the season and that he may be here answering the same question again next Wednesday.

“I’m just going to take it like this is Wednesday and we’ll just see what happens next,” Carroll said. “If this is Wednesday I’m probably going to be speaking the same way next week, saying the same thing to you.”

Carroll reiterated Dion Bailey will start in place of Chancellor and said “we’re not changing” in terms of the team’s defense.

“Really we are not changing much at all,” Carroll said. “There’s just always some nuances that come out just in the offseason and all of that. But basically we are going to be pretty much the same.”
