Update: The Rapids sit in the fifth and final Western Conference playoff spot as the first half winds down before the Aug. 6 All-Star game. Chivas USA is eighth, with four fewer points than Colorado. Striker Erick Torres sparked a surge by Chivas USA, which won four straight games before losing to D.C. United on Sunday. Torres has scored in six consecutive games, a franchise record. Deshorn Brown leads the way for Colorado with seven goals in his second MLS season but he is questionable for Friday’s game along with Jose Marl and Shane O’Neill. For Chivas USA, Bobby Burling, Thomas McNamara and Martin Rivero are out, and Eric Avila is questionable.
