The construction and renovation of the FIFA World Cup stadiums have ran into a gamut of issues, including overspending, displacement of the poor, failure to meet building safety codes and even the deaths of three construction workers. The stadiums in Sao Paulo, Natal and Porto Alegre were yet to be completed just days before the opening ceremonies scheduled.
