Update: This is the third and final regular-season game between the clubs, a series dubbed the California Clasico. The Galaxy won the first match, 1-0, at Stanford Stadium on June 28 and the teams played to a 2-2 tie Aug. 8 at StubHub Center. The Galaxy is undefeated in its last six games and is coming off a 2-2 tie with Montreal on Wednesday. But star forward Landon Donovan received a yellow card in the game and, because he went over the five-card limit during the regular season, he is suspended for this game. However, defender A.J. DeLaGarza returns to the Galaxy after being absent because of the death of his infant son. San Jose most recently lost, 2-0, to Vancouver, extending the Earthquakes’ winless streak to seven games.
