Update: This is the last game of the regular season, with both teams trying to win the Supporters’ Shield — awarded to the club with the most points — and home-field advantage throughout Major League Soccer’s playoffs. The Galaxy and Seattle are tied atop the Western Conference with 61 points each, but the Sounders have the potential tiebreaker with more victories. So Seattle can capture the Shield for the first time in club history with a win or a draw, while the Galaxy must win to earn the Shield for a record fifth time. The Galaxy will be without star defender Omar Gonzalez, who was suspended for this game after drawing two fouls Sunday when the Galaxy and Seattle played to a 2-2 tie at StubHub Center. This game also will decide where the teams are seeded in the playoffs. The first-place club plays either the fourth- or fifth-place team in the conference semifinals, after a knockout game between the fourth- and fifth-place clubs, while the second-place team plays the No. 3 seed in the semifinals.
