Update: Chivas USA has used 10 different lineups in its last 10 games — and there could be more changes coming Saturday night if defender Danny Califf’s sore right hamstring keeps him from starting against the San Jose Earthquakes. None of the previous shuffling has seemed to help much, with Chivas going 2-6-2 and getting outscored 27-11 over the last two months. That leaves the team in danger of falling into the Western Conference cellar should it fail to beat San Jose while Portland wins its Saturday match against Seattle. Recent history doesn’t favor Chivas, which lost to San Jose, 4-0, two weeks ago. The Earthquakes, who lead Major League Soccer in points (53), goals (56) and goal differential (plus 23), last week became the first team this season to clinch a playoff berth.
