Charles Barkley chastises Magic Johnson for his Mike D’Antoni tweet
After the Lakers announced Mike D’Antoni’s resignation on Wednesday evening, Magic Johnson took to Twitter to express his excitement.
Happy days are here again! Mike D’Antoni resigns as the Lakers coach. I couldn’t be happier!— Earvin Magic Johnson (@MagicJohnson) May 1, 2014
Charles Barkley thought that was a low-class move and slammed Johnson for his public celebration on “Inside the NBA.”
“Magic Johnson’s bigger than that,” Barkley said. “Magic Johnson’s bigger than that. Listen, Mike D’Antoni is a good coach. They didn’t give him a lot to work with. But Magic Johnson, he’s bigger than that.”
The Lakers went 27-55 this past season, setting the franchise record for most losses. But the team was riddled with injuries and superstar Kobe Bryant played in only six games.
