Andy Dalton isn’t about to put up with J.J. Watt’s nonsense after Bengals’ loss

J.J. Watt is a disappointment. The Houston Texans star defensive end has damaged the integrity of the NFL. He’s let down all the children who consider him a role model.

At least that’s what Andy Dalton thinks. And all because Watt used a reference to “A Christmas Story” about him.

After the Texans defeated Cincinnati, 10-6, on “Monday Night Football,” Watt was interviewed by ESPN’s Lisa Salters. That’s when he made this statement:

“Our goal was to come in here and make the ‘Red Rifle’ look like a Red Ryder BB gun, and I think we did that,” Watt said.

You see, Red Rifle is Dalton’s nickname, because of his hair color and strong arm. And the Red Rifle wasn’t about to put up with any of Watt’s nonsense.

“I’m disappointed in him — for the integrity of this game,” Dalton said about Watt during his postgame news conference. “I have a lot of respect for him. He’s a real good player and so there’s a lot of kids and a lot of people that look up to him. For him to make comments like that, he’s just showing that’s acceptable to do that kind of stuff.

“So it’s disappointing for one of the best players in this league to come out and say something like that. That’s all I’m going to say about that. I think J.J. is a good player, but for him to be one of the best in this league and to show that integrity, and to show that type of ... it shows what he’s about, which is disappointing.”

Obviously it was a disappointing night for Dalton, who completed 58% of his passes and had a passer rating of 61.0, both season lows. Plus he was sacked three times (once by Watt) and threw one interception in the Bengals’ first loss of the season.

But in light of his reaction to Watt’s comment, I think we can still safely say that Dalton is easily disappointed.
