Dallas Cowboys owner Jerry Jones told reporters that he is not allowed to talk about Cleveland Browns backup quarterback Johnny Manziel.

Jones was criticized after this year’s draft for not selecting Manziel, a Texas native and Heisman Trophy winner from Texas A&M. Manziel was taken in the first round by the Browns with the 26th overall pick. The Cowboys selected Notre Dame offensive tackle Zack Martin, who is being hailed a possible offensive rookie of the year, with the 16th choice.

Jones took heat for not drafting Manziel since current starter Tony Romo is known for his hot and cold periods of play. But, lately, Romo has been hot, which has alleviated pressure from the draft situation.

Jones was asked after the Cowboys’ 30-23 win over the defending Super Bowl champion Seattle Seahawks if he had any Manziel regrets.

“Well, I don’t know how that’s relevant,” Jones told ESPNDallas.com. “I’m really not so sure I’m ready to admit a mis-thought. It is not relevant, and I really have had some very stern, succinct instructions not to mention Johnny anymore from people who count, let me put it like that.”

Manziel remains the Browns’ No. 2 quarterback after a good showing by starter Brian Hoyer, who has led the team to 3-2 record, including a 31–10 victory over the Pittsburgh Steelers on Sunday.
